When you drink a glass of wine, what's in your glass? Is it something that you bought because you know it and you've purchased it multiple times? Did you buy it out of convenience at the grocery store? On sale? Is your purpose for drinking it to just go with dinner, or to unwind after work? Now, before I go on, let me say that this is a no judgement zone. Those are all good and valid reasons for drinking wine. I just want to share a different perspective. When I drink a glass of wine, I look at it as an adventure. An opportunity to try a new varietal, or a new region. To taste something unfamiliar, and the possibility of finding a new favorite. So, I encourage you to take a baby step. If you like say a Pinot Grigio, try a Pinot Gris. They come from the same grape variety just from different places, Pinot Gris coming from France and Pinot Grigio from Italy. They both have fruity and sweet or dry styles. On the red side, if you like a Syrah, try a Shiraz from Australia. Same grape, different flavors. Try them with food, and try them on their own. Let me know what you think. Cheers!
